RENTING HOUSES ON SAMUI

RENTING HOUSES ON SAMUI

A recent phenomena on the island has been the sudden proliferation of "House For Rent" signs around Samui. A few years back it was rare to see a sign in English saying "house for rent"... now you see many of them. Renting a house, short or long term can be a great way to reduce your costs on an extended stay.

Rental rates along the beach are high, while the inland areas offer very low rentals. A usable, small concrete-block house with a kitchen, bathroom and 2 bedrooms can be had for as little as 2,500 baht per month if you look around inland areas a little bit. Along the beach you can often find a small house for around 6,000 to12,000 baht.

Many areas on Samui have small resort-like developments on the beach which offer beach-side bungalows at monthly rates for around this price. Larger houses, fully equipped and with full balconies may be found from 12,000 to 22,000 baht on or off the beach, prices vary a lot so look around. Of course if you want - the sky is the limit and you can rent virtual palaces here these days.

Currently it seems that nobody here is yet running any type of agency or central place where you can check on houses available for rent. (is that a business opportunity or what?) Just take a drive around the island and keep your eye open for "House For Rent" signs.

You can often rent for short term, paying only one month advance and with no "bond" or "security money". You'd need basic furniture and bedding, but many houses come equipped with basics such as chairs and a table.
